What is the Ka'ba?

The Ka'ba is the sacred cubic structure located in the center of Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It is called 'the House of Allah' (Baytullah) and was originally built by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his son Ismail as the first house of worship dedicated to the One God. Muslims around the world face the Ka'ba during their five daily prayers. It is covered with a black cloth embroidered with gold Quranic verses. The Ka'ba symbolizes the unity of Muslims worldwide in worshipping Allah alone.
